About Youthscape
Vibewire’s Youthscape is the source for powerful and uncompromised journalism from the youth perspective.
Modeled on past Vibewire projects such as electionTracker – which sent young reporters on the Australian federal election campaign, and PROJECTeye – the only youth-run initiative providing critical coverage of World Youth Day 2008, young journalists were given training, mentoring and a platform to have their works published.
Vibewire has seen the far-reaching impact as young people add their voices to the public debate, reframing issues and building their skills, empowering them to be more civically engaged and influencing public discussion.
Practical media production training is highly sought after, and increasingly unavailable through traditional career development opportunities. Vibewire provides the opportunity to work collaboratively while gaining valuable experience across the fields of media production, design, communications and project management.
The most recent example of this was in 2008, when Vibewire worked in partnership with SBS to produce quality coverage of World Youth Day for the SBS World News website. Over 70 feature articles were produced during the event, some of which generated the highest traffic.
Currently Vibewire is running electionWIRE on Youthscape and YouTube. To have your voice heard all you need to do is sign up to Youthscape and unleash the inner journalist by writing the news as you see it.
