about vibewire

Vibewire is a youth-led Sydney not for profit. We’re here to be a launchpad for young people – to provide the resources, networks and programs needed to enable them to do awesome shit things. Established by Tom Dawkins (@tomjd) in his uni days back in 2000, Vibewire was built on the belief that young people should be included in the conversations that matter.

In our early days we ran programs that gave young people a voice and a platform – media-making scholarships, short film festivals, yearly anthologies, and more. Then the internet happened.

This year, as we approach our 15th birthday, Vibewire is finding new ways to be a launchpad for a new era. We’ve just launched the common room – a super-cheap community space for creatives, freelancers, entrepreneurs, activists, students, musicians, magicians, etc – who need a place to work and a tribe of do-ers.

Since 2009, we’ve run fastbreak, a monthly event at the Powerhouse Museum showing off up-and-coming projects run by young people. This year we’re going national with it, launching fastbreak in Melbourne, Canberra and Brisbane in partnership with organisations like UNICEF, Oxfam, Pozible and FYA.

Last but certainly not least, we run VIBRANTLY, a growing recruitment & digital agency that matches our network of talented freelancers with our network of corporates, NFPs and community organizations.

We’ve got more amazing projects coming out in the near future, and we’re always open to ideas. Subscribe to our newsletter to stay updated on everything happening, and stay in touch on facebook, twitter, and youtube.
